What dose of Melatonin Zn-Se should I take?

Melatonin does not have a quantitative pharmacological value but is only necessary to “rest” the pineal gland.

Pierpaoli’s Melatonin Zinc-Selenium formula was developed to reproduce within the organism the nocturnal peak of melatonin produced by the Pineal Gland between one and three in the morning, which perfectly imitates a youthful physiological nocturnal peak. The nocturnal youthful peak so induced maintains the biological rhythms that control hormones and immunity and, therefore, the circadian synchronization (physiological ciclicity) of the entire hormonal system that strictly regulates the natural metabolic and immunological functions, resulting in the normalization of all immunological, metabolic and endocrine functions. This is the true physiological value of taking Pierpaoli’s Melatonin ZN-Se!

It has been proven that doses of 0.3 - 0.5 mg are already effective and are able to perfectly imitate a youthful nocturnal peak. Administering doses of 0.3 mg of Melatonin to adult males will result in blood levels close to physiological levels. A 0.3 mg dose of Melatonin in the correct form is in fact sufficient to increase the level of Melatonin in blood about 120 picograms per milliliter, a level that corresponds to the nocturnal peak of melatonin in youth.

It should, however, be considered that individual needs may vary according to differences in metabolism. Precisely because everybody has a different intestinal absorption, Prof. Pierpaoli prudentially suggests taking 1 to 3 mg. There is no risk of overdose. Melatonin is water-soluble, and the excess quantity is eliminated by kidneys in the urine.

In fact, as we have said, a dose of 0.3 - 1.0 mg of Pierpaoli’s Melatonin Zinc-Selenium tablets is normally sufficient to return the nocturnal peak of melatonin to youthful levels and to saturate the organism during the night.

When should I start taking Melatonin Zn-Se?

In all situations when you want to prevent diseases related to disturbances of the Biological Clock (the pineal gland) and resulting from the change in hormonal rhythms that are strictly related to aging. Obviously, it must always be taken upon appearance of symptoms or disorders that always come before the appearance of diseases. Therefore, at any age

Does Melatonin Zn-Se have harmful or dangerous side effects?

Never! No harmful side effects have been reported in the 18 years during which hundreds of millions of people have taken melatonin, particularly among the US population, where it has been available for free for 17 years. Instead, there are “melatonin terrorists” who spread fake news for obvious reasons. Hundreds of scientific publications confirm the harmlessness and beneficial effects of melatonin, which, however, are not reported by the media.

What time should I take Melatonin Zn-Se?

At night before going to bed between 10 p.m. and midnight. In no case, not even if you work at night, should you change the time of taking melatonin. In fact, melatonin is not a sleeping pill but only maintains biological hormone rhythms and synchronizes the brain with biological day-night rhythms. Therefore, always at the same time.

How can I evaluate the beneficial effects of Melatonin Zn-Se?

Routine blood work before taking Melatonin Zn-Se is sufficient and then again after 6 months or a year, being careful to use an accredited laboratory for analysis. In the absence of any diseases, I recommend always checking FT3, FT4, TSH, Prolactin and Testosterone levels

Why does Melatonin Zn-Se not always help me sleep? I wake up at night and have trouble getting back to sleep.

This means you really need it! In fact, in elderly and the multitude of people who use sleeping pills, anti-anxiety medication, relaxants, chemical tranquillizers, even for many years, it is necessary to wait weeks and sometimes months before melatonin is able to resynchronize their brain to natural biological rhythms. Therefore, it is necessary to be patient, continue to take it and avoid coffee and alcoholic beverages before going to bed, sleep in complete darkness and not eat at night. You have disrupted your rhythms and now the regulatory centers of your hormonal rhythms must slowly return to normal. It can’t be avoided!

Can children take it?

Children don’t need melatonin. However, given the situation in which they often live (family fights, divorces, stress, television, noise, air and water pollution, carbonated drinks, diet, etc.), it can be used for limited periods (which can also last a few months). If a child is not sleeping properly, for example, it can only be advantageous.  If a child often develops infections, tonsillitis, etc., it is absolutely advisable to take melatonin

Can it be given to women who use oral contraceptives or are undergoing hormone replacement therapy in menopause?

Most certainly. For women in menopause, using melatonin not only eliminates menopausal disorders, but can also lead to recovery of menstruation, as has already happened in many cases of which I have direct knowledge.
